Greater Odenville Chamber of Commerce November 2006 Minutes
November 20, 2006
In Attendance: Gayle Brandt, John Joyner, Melba Knight, Heather Harper, Shannon Reese, Margaret Isenhower, Mark Brandt, Sandy Cross, Larry Carmon, Paul Becker, Gabriel Cifuentes, Mark Weaver, David Woods, Adam Pardue, Michelle Pardue, David Davis – Odenville Fire Department, Doug Phillip – Branchville Fire Department, Steve Walker – Friendship Fire Department, Scott Shaddix – Branchville Police Department, Don Smith – Odenville City Council.
The meeting was called to order by John Joyner at 7:00 pm at the Sal’s Italian Restaurant. Prayer was offered by Mark Brandt.
Treasurer’s Report: Gayle Brandt gave the Treasurer’s Report and reported Beginning Balance of $878.35, with deposits of $231.25 from the auction and raffle held at Melba’s Past and Present and outlays of $56.00 for bank fees. This gives a new ending balance of $1,053.60. The motion was made by Melba Knight to accept the Treasurer’s Report and Seconded by Mark Brandt. Report Accepted. Minutes: Everyone had a copy of the October 2006 minutes. Motion made by Melba Knight to accept Minutes and Seconded by Sandy Cross. Minutes Accepted.
Community Complex: John Joyner presented printed plans for an area recreational and social park. Members viewed plans and now have something in their hands enabling them to present to future Chamber Members and prospective sponsors. These plans were drawn up by Mr. Ed Woods and the Chamber thanks Mr. Woods for his efforts toward this goal.
Future Outlook for the GOCoC: Sandy Cross and Heather Harper presented steps to better plan the present and future goals of the Chamber. Information on other area Chamber Business plans and mission statements were passed around. Members will go over this information and make suggestions to formulate a new Business Plan and a new Mission Statement for our Chamber. Moving Meeting: Mark Weaver stated that it was becoming ineffective having the meetings at Sal’s Italian Restaurant due to the commotion going around the meeting. The Chamber would like to thank Sal’s for giving us room to hold meetings, but now due to the increasing size of attendance, it is necessary to find a larger meeting area. Don Smith said that we could go back to using City Hall and would insure that it was available to the Chamber. Motion was made by Mark Weaver and Seconded by Sandy Cross to reconvene meetings in the Odenville City Hall.

December Elections: Mark Brandt mentioned that in the Chamber By Laws that new officer elections were directed to be held at the December meeting. Sandy Cross Motioned that a Nomination Committee be set up to take care of nominations and Motion was seconded by Melba Knight. The committee will be Chaired by Shannon Reese, with Melba Knight and Margaret Isenhower on the committee. Motion carried.
Odenville Parade: Discussion was held on if the Chamber will sponsor the trophies for the 2006 Odenville Christmas parade. Mark Weaver motioned that the GOCoC provide the trophies and motion was seconded by Margaret Isenhower. Motion carried. 2007 Community Outing: John Joyner motioned that Adam Pardue Chair the 2007 fundraising Community Outing. Members of area organizations will provide members to represent their input on how to make 2007’s celebration an entire community event. Motion seconded by Paul Becker. Motion carried.
